G-nawing

Ashley the other day noticed Tanner going to town on a watermelon rind and announced, "Tanner is g-nawing away!" It took me a second to figure out what she was saying and then a minute or two to try and explain the whole silly "silent g" rule.

Let's get this thing started (again)

Here's some pictures from our annual Temple Square spring flowers photo excursion. We got some good ones this year, and hope you like them.
Okay, so I haven't done a good job with my blog. In my last entry, Tanner was 2 months old... and now his 1st birthday is coming up. I'm not gonna try to catch up too much, but just start from where we are now. So here goes. It's the end of April 2008. After a terrible 20 month build, we're finally in our new house and have been here about 7 months now. It's taken that long to get over some of the bitterness of the build and finally start to kinda feel moved in. But it took good care of us over the winter and now with spring finally here, we're looking to get some grass and landscaping in and get the kids outside to play a little more.

As far as our happenings, I just ran the Salt Lake Half Marathon 2 weeks ago. It wasn't a spectacular time (1:59.48) and I didn't look particularly swift as I ran it, but I did it and can check off one of those pesky New Years resolutions. I hope to keep running through the summer. I don't know if I have too many more half marathons in me -- 13 miles is a long way, no matter how you look at it -- but maybe a 10K here and there or something.

Speaking of New Years resolutions, Tami is keeping hers by joining a community symphony orchestra a few weeks ago and is getting ready for her first performance with the New American Symphony this weekend in Ogden.

Kaitlyn is counting the weeks down til school is out and she gets baptized. She is becoming an outside girl and loves to rie her bike and scooter and can't wait for a playset in our backyard. She is also fascinated with science, an interest that I hope we can sustain for the next many years.

Ashely remains our bookworm and loves to read and reread everything she can get her hands on. We have a fair number of books in our house and she has read all of them several times, so it's a challenge to keep her supplied with reading material. I almost have to force her at times to get outside and play a little!

Lauren is nearly potty-trained!! We are so excited. It's been a long road, and we're happy to see the end near. The gumball machine reward was what finally clicked for her, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Tanner remains the official Cutest Baby Ever. He is the happiest little guy you'll ever meet and just a wonderful baby. He's no quite walking yet, but thinking a lot about it, so maybe he'll get there by his birthday in two weeks. I guess we'll see.
